The name of this exhibition refers to They Shoot Horses, Don't They?, a movie directed by Sydney Pollack and released in the United States in 1969. In Spain the film is known as Danzad, danzad, malditos (Dance, dance, you damned!). In France its title is On achève bien les chevaux; in Italy, Non Si Uccidono Cosi Anche I Caballi?, and in Germany, Nur Pferden gibt man den Gnadenschuß. The screenplay by James Poe and Robert E. Thompson is based on a novel by Horace McCoy. It stars Jane Fonda, Michael Sarrazin, Susannah York, Red Buttons, Michael Conrad, Bonnie Bedelia, Bruce Dern and Gig Young, the latter won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor.
